For any afterhours reports concerning an unaccompanied minor, the State of Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF) operates 24 hours and 7 days a week. They can be contacted at 1-800-842-2288. DCF will notify the ICJ staff for follow up. In the event the juvenile is a runaway with no pending delinquency issues, the Interstate Compact 24-hour rule is applied. For any afterhours reports concerning an out-of-state delinquent absconder or escapee with an active Take into Custody Order/Warrant, notify the ICJ staff and contact the local police department. The police department and/or the local probation staff will seek judicial approval for a Connecticut ICJ Take into Custody Order to place the child in a juvenile residential facility pending a hearing on the next court day.
